Short-term courses do not provide a student visa, so you must have a valid visa to enter Japan. For example, a tourist visa, Working Holiday Visa, or work visa.
Citizens of the countries listed HERE do not need to apply for a tourist visa to travel to Japan. Please note that you are not allowed to work in Japan while on a tourist visa.
